Yearly Weekend Away Hash 2023

Friday, 9th of June to Sunday 11th of June

The yearly BH3 Weekly Away Hash was a huge success, so here are some of the highlights.

Friday Night - Red Dress Run

25 Hashers assembled at 18:30 sharp in the middle of Pirenópolis to participate in the traditional starting event for the weekend. The trail was set by the visiting Paraguayan Ban The Cock and the BH3’s Union Jack-Off and Opulence through the historical centre of the city and surrounding areas. And what a sight it was to see almost everybody wearing their best red dress running and walking through the city.

There were more that a few cat whistles from the locals and many people asked us what this was all about. Of course, we explained the reason behind the Red Dress Run tradition and many calling cards were handed out.

After a short circle and welcoming words from the Hashmaster, we settled in our booked restaurant for dinner where we were greeted by Cindy, the president of PiriCastra, a local animal charity. Soon the drinks were flowing, and excellent food was served.

One of the traditions of the Red Dress Run is to collect donations from the participants and top it off with the money that was not spend on the weekend of the rego fees. So we were all glad to hand over R$3220 to Cindy which was very grateful for the donation towards her charity.

The partying continued long into the night, and we all had a great time at this first weekend away event.

Saturday - Main Hash

The main Hash event was held on Saturday and the hares Rambone, Union Jack-Off, Opulence and Just Trinidade set off at 9:00 to set trail. Starting point was the artisan beer brewery Cervejaria Casarão about 2 km outside Pirenópolis.

From about 11:30 the Hashers assembled at the brewery to have some lunch and at 13:00 sharp the welcome circle started with about 36 Hashers. After the chalk talk the walkers and runners pack split up to meet again at the beers stop. While the walkers trail went through some bush trails and a hanging bridge, the runners went up a steep dirt road into a slate quarry.

The beer stop was also a great place for a swim and while the water was rather cold, plenty of Hashers had a dip.

After about 45 minutes of swimming and resting, the pack set of again to the end point. There again we had our circles which was a bit more extensive than on Friday night. Hashers from Rio, Sao Paulo and Asuncion were welcome, trail crimes punished and sadly we also farewelled two of our Brasilia H3 Hashers that would return to Budapest for good.

In the evening we all met again at a bar right on the river were we had pizza, played some great adult games and also celebrated an upcoming birthday. Of course, with all the traditional Hash songs and shenanigans. Only late at night we all went back to our hotels, tired, a bit drunk, but looking forward to next days Hangover Hash.

Sunday – Hangover Hash

The hares I Lost Myself, Dr. Credulous Pussy and NoDong Too Long got up early to set the Hangover trail, also through the historical part of Pirenópolis. 27 Hashers assembled at 9:00 and after a short chalk talk were soon on trial. This time the streets were not as busy but many Hashers were not only battling with waking up early, but having to much golden ale the previous night. But what better cure for a hangover than walking/running 5kms over cobblestone roads. Of course, there was a beer stop on the way and a farewell circle at the end.

While some people had to hit the road to get back home, some others went to VagaFogo, an old homestead where we all had an excellent brunch that lasted to about 15:00. After the brunch we all said farewell to each other and agreed that it was an excellent weekend and that everybody is looking forward to another one very soon.

So all in all a great weekend. The BH3 would like to thank Threesome and Woodick from the Rio kennel, Hot Duck from the Sao Paulo kennel and Ban The Cock and Double Dutch Mountain from the Asuncion kennel to attend our weekend and joining the fun. It was an honour and pleasure to host you and making new friendships.

Also, a big thanks to all the hares for the weekend and the people that organised the cake and party games – you know who you are and all the pack appreciates your help. Without teamwork this weekend would have not been such a success.

The End and On On
